Back to the Basics New Workers Quickly Bear Fruit Good News for Sudan Miracles in Tamil Nadu | Back to the Basics Worldwide The annual meeting of YWAM's Frontier Missions International Leadership Team (IFMLT) was charged with energy and enthusiasm as the group renewed its commitment to the Christian Magna Carta, one of YWAM's guiding documents. This affirmation of several basic human rights declares that every individual on Earth should be able to hear and understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to have a Bible available in his or her own language, and to fellowship with other believers. These statements reminded the FM leaders of the essentials of their focus and vision: Evangelism, discipleship and church-planting among the world's unreached people groups. The IFMLT set new international goals for its branch of YWAM: 1. Each FM worker is to present the Gospel to at least one person each week. 2. Each worker is to give a portion of Scripture to at least two people each week. 3. Each field team is to begin at least one new church each year. In this edition of "Frontier Missions News", we share a few stories of how these three goals are being met. Back to top... | New Workers Quickly Bear Fruit South Asia One of our field leaders reports on the outreach from the Discipleship Training School (DTS) in his country. "God has changed the lives of all of our DTS students. Our 15 students split into four outreach teams and visited 258 villages. They shared the Gospel with 21,851 individuals among 14 unreached people groups. They gave away 9,700 Gospel books and CDs. (We need more Gospel books to give out!) Four new believers were baptized. "Of the 15 students, five of them will join us on staff, four of them will complete further studies and join us in the future, and four will work with different churches. Please pray for all of them to be good disciples of Jesus. Most of our DTS students came from non-Christian families (Hindu, Muslim and Buddhist). Please pray as they go home, that they will able to give a good testimony and reach out to their families and communities." (Photo: Field Leader) | | Good News for Sudan Sudan "8-wells" is a joint project started in 2010 to spread the good news of Jesus throughout northern Sudan. It incorporates distribution events, book exhibitions and "Marches for Jesus". For the latter, a bus has been outfitted with a sound system and generator. A worship team rides in the bus and sings during the entire March, accompanying the rest of the participants who are on foot. In every bus station and market place and wherever lots of people are gathered, the March pauses, and the gospel is openly proclaimed. The marchers give a free copy of the "Gospel of Luke" to everyone along the way. The organizers are gearing up to have a "March for Jesus" in 25 locations in northern Sudan, during which 1 million copies of the "Gospel of Luke" will be distributed. Through the combined efforts of 80-100 churches and agencies, God has provided nearly a quarter of a million US dollars to fully fund this project. As a further demonstration of God's love, believers in northern Sudan responded to flooding in the area of Shandi. They filled two trucks with food, blankets and medicines and a third truck with 40 young people to help distribute the items. After initial resistance, local authorities agreed for the believers to handle the distribution themselves. One thousand bags were prepared to give to needy families, each containing flour, oil, sugar, lentils, pasta noodles, tea, biscuits, rice, a blanket and medicines, along with a printed copy of Psalm 23 and an explanation that the bag was a gift from the evangelical Church of northern Sudan for the people of Shandi. The participants felt the presence of God very strongly as they gave out the bags to the flood victims. Back to top... | | Scenes of the Good News being spread in Sudan. (Photos: Philip B.) | | Miracles in Tamil Nadu India God is showing His love in powerful ways in Tamil Nadu, India, where some church-planting couples have started more than 15 house churches. One of the keys to their success is how God answers their prayers for healing and deliverance. Solomon and his family work in a rural area. They pray and look for opportunities to share the gospel with local community leaders. One day, Solomon learned that the village leader was very sick. He went to his home and found that this man had very swollen legs and could not walk. He had been like this for quite some time, had visited many doctors, done lots of sacrifices to the idols and nothing had helped him. When Solomon prayed in the name of Jesus, the man's legs were instantly healed and returned to normal size! He put his trust in God, and Solomon began a regular Bible Study in his home. Other healings and miracles followed - the village clerk who suffered from water tumors; the grandmother who was partially paralyzed; the young man who needed a job; the demonized man who ran naked through the village when the moon was dark. All were set free and accepted Jesus as Lord. The miracle most precious to Solomon, though, involves his teenage daughter. In 2009, within months, she completely lost her sight. The family was told that her only hope was a double eye transplant. With no money and no donor eyes, it seemed impossible. After months of waiting, they were notified that two eyes were available, and they were called to the city for the surgery. They arrived at the hospital with little money but trusting in God. As they waited to consult with the doctor, God completely healed her and she was able to see perfectly! When the new surgeon examined her, he asked, "Did you already go to another hospital and have the transplants done?" Yet another miracle had happened in Tamil Nadu! Solomon and his family continue to serve God and plant house churches in this village area. They believe that hundreds of people will know the love and power of the Living God and that their village area will experience His amazing transformation.
